OTR II: 5 Tips that’ll Help You Plan What to Wear to a Concert

Live and work but don't forget to play, have fun and enjoy life overall

I had the best time at the OTR II Tour, on Wednesday at Camping World Stadium, here in Orlando. Jay & Bey really killed it! I didn’t expect anything short of getting my edges snatched and that’s exactly what happened when they hit the stage.

It’s always a joy to see them perform, they’re truly a power couple. Though I’m a HUGE, I repeat HUGE Jay fan, Bey was my style inspiration because well ya know… she’s QUEEN!

Since the tour is still in full effect, I figured it may be beneficial if I shared a few tips on how to plan the perfect concert OOTD. Honestly, I didn’t think much of  the effort that I put into planning my looks until I went to the show… the feedback I received on my style and the details of my OOTD was incredibly positive, so much so that I figured I’d share a few planning hacks with you all.

Below are 5 Tips to get you started with planning your next concert/festival look.

Also, I’ve linked the items that are still in stock below,

Style Inspiration:

This is so important and it makes planning that much easier. There’s no better time to emulate your favorite artist than when you’re gonna pull-up to their concert. Why not honor them by channeling their style?  Fishnets and daisy dukes definitely won’t work at the office but when you’re concert bound, to see Queen BEY, it’s cool to play your wild card. Just remember to balance things out and stay true to what works for you and your body type.

A pro-tip for planning your look:

Utilize Instagram to save links to the featured Celebrity’s OOTD’s that you love most or create a pinterest board to save your faves. Once you’ve done that, choose your all-time fave look of all of the inspirational pics that you’ve saved and build your fit from that. The main thing to remember is to make it your OWN and then OWN IT!

Often times celebrities have major wardrobe budgets to blow. Keep in mind, you don’t have to spend top dollar to get the look. Stores like, Target, Zara, Nasty Gal, Fashion Nova and ASOS always have trendy items that you can get for a fraction of the cost so be sure to check them out. AND, don’t sleep on the IG Boutiques, I’ve had great success with those as well (just remember to read the reviews before purchasing).

Plan Ahead:

As with anything, planning is key. You must allow yourself enough time to master your look. The details absolutely matter and shipping isn’t always a breeze so allow yourself enough time in the event that something you order/purchase doesn’t fit or work for you and your personal needs… you want to have enough time to return things and seek replacements, if the need arises. Furthermore, it takes time to put together a masterpiece, you may not find everything you want all in one shopping trip so plan accordingly. Lastly, don’t neglect what you already have in your closet. You may not need to buy anything. Always begin with what you already have before spending your coins on something new.

Be Adventurous:

Step outside of your comfort zone and do something different than your norm. Again, concerts are an automatic pass to have fun, let your hair down and get creative. No need to play it safe, get your style on Sis, but also remember that though you’re taking a risk, you still need to feel confident about what you’re wearing so if you don’t feel confident, don’t even bother wearing it, because ultimately, your confidence is key.

Consider the location/environment and dress accordingly:

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been out at concerts and witnessed women darn near crawling through the crowd because they wore heels that they can barely stand in. Sis, PUH-LEASSSEEE!!! Don’t let this be you. Concerts are standing/walking intensive so dress for the role that will have you most comfortable. I know that there are women who can bang it out in a 6 inch pair of pumps for hours, and if that’s you, then that’s what’s up. But if you’re the friend hollering slow down, y’all walking too fast, you know my feet hurt..then this 5th tip is for you ace.

Yo, I get that pain is beauty and ya-da-ya-da-ya… however, limping around looking like you need a lifeline is NOT what folks mean when they use that expression. I promise you that no matter how fly your fit is, 9 times out of 10 it gets completely overlooked if your heels have you walking like your’e on stilts. Remember,  flats can do the trick as well. Don’t feel pressured to wear heels because you want to do the most, just find flats that have fun details and you’ll still kill it, TRUST ME!

I hope you find these tips to be helpful when prepping for your next concert attendance.

Concerts/festivals are so much fun. Enjoy yourself. You work so hard on the day-to-day, and you deserve some playtime.

You did kill the style, as always. I needed these tips. I went to a concert in Kentucky, and I wish someone would have told me that the style was to be bowlegged. I felt so out of place. LMAO!!!
