The Satin Midi Skirt is one of THEE biggest summer trends of 2019! Girl, it’s everywhere. I bet you a Vanilla Chai Latte (with Almond Milk & Cinnamon dolce) that you can’t open a single fashion magazine without seeing slip dresses and Satin Midi Skirts styled to perfection with sneakers or barely there sandals or pumps. I’m a fan of versatility as that’s where you get the most bang for your buck and the Satin Midi Skirt will easily transition into any season so it’s a year around option for sure. It’s all about knowing how to make it work.
Here’s my take on styling the Satin Midi
YAAAS! for Graphic Tee’s with Whimsical Flare
I adore fun, colorful, graphic t-shirts so when I saw this t-shirt at Zara I had to have it. It was too perfect to by-pass as it references NYFW for-crying-out-loud! In my mind, it was fate and this shirt was absolutely made FOR ME (says every fashion crazed shopper with a passion for personal style).
Pro tip:
Think of your graphic tee as the center piece of your outfit and build your look around it. For example, If you look closely you’ll see how each piece in the outfit plays off of the t-shirt. The colors in the shirt are: yellow, green, blue, red, brown, black and white! Use this as a rule of thumb to aid you in your quest to level up your style this season. I’ve linked some really cute options to get you started.
AND THE VERSATILITY AWARD GOES TOO…
Yup, you guessed it! The Satin Midi Skirt, It functions around the clock…It’s so polished and it really looks amazing on every silhouette, especially for us ladies with curves. There are countless options for your to choose from and they all vary in price. This one is currently on sale for under $20! and I’ve linked a few additional options that I’m considering purchasing. Since I’d planned to go to West Village to shop, I wanted to wear something that was reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw’s Sex in the City Swag.
Slingback Faux Life
Since summer’s in full swing, I opted to pair my Satin Midi with a pair of red embellished slingback pumps. I’ve worn these shoes everywhere, they’ve racked up so many miles that they’re officially “first class” status, Lol! But seriously, these slingback pumps are the kind of shoe that you buy twice (to ensure that you have a backup for years to come). AND, if you’re seeking the dynamic duo… you know, Style & COMFORT, you’ll be very pleased with these gorgeous heels. The style and cut of these shoes give me Manolo Blahnik vibes all day and I’m so here for it. Zara does a great job with high fashion dupes honey…these shoes are an excellent way to get the look for less. I’ve linked some other options as well, in varying price ranges.
DENIM, But make it FASHION THO…
This denim jacket has been in my closet for years. I was drawn to the distressed look and the oversized fit and I knew it would be a great closet staple for layering. If you don’t have a denim jacket yet, I’ve linked a few options for you to choose from. You don’t need a lot of denim jackets. I recommend starting with an oversized one first that way you can use it for layer in the cooler months.
Pro Tip:
Break the rules a bit why don’t cha! Rather than following the text book, no brainer rule of buttoning your clothing, opt to transform basic pieces into asymmetrical, off the shoulder wonders. The secret? It’s simple, no pins or stitching required. Just mis-button it, in an intentional way. As you can see here, rather than starting the button at the top and working my way down, I positioned the jacket to be off the shoulder, and then I started from the bottom of the jacket, by buttoning the tip of the jacket to the center of where the buttons began. It looks really chic and it turned an oversized jacket into a more customized, shapely silhouette, which complimented the skirt and elevated this look entirely.
Candy Girl…
Rock my world, Look So Sweet…
Let’s talk accessories. They’re truly the eye-candy of your outfit so rock them as a Special Treat, you know… to elevate your look. Don’t over do it in such a way that detracts from what you’re wearing. Be mindful of how you put your accessories together. Your accessories should never look like they’re in competition with your outfit, they should compliment it and add interest. For this look, I opted for large pearl earrings, a choker, classic Chanel sunnies, and a black and white Balenciaga Clutch. I’ve linked a few accessories for you to shop so click through below to shop for fun, stylish pieces to add to your collection of goodies.
