Style Mimosa: One Look, Two Ways…

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

LifeStyle Notes:

I love this quote, as reflecting on it makes me appreciate all of the times I’ve said yes. Yes! to Sunday Funday, Yes! to putting in that extra set at the gym, Yes! to the fun girls trip, Yes! to that new stretch assignment, Yes! to the impromptu weekend getaway with hubs, and Hell Yes! to the third round of cocktails.

Life is so precious and it’s important that we find time to enjoy it. Sail away, take risks, and make memories that you’ll be proud to recount for years to come. As those very memories can keep you out of a funk when you’re feeling down or when you’re just not at your personal best.

StyleNotes:

I enjoy playing dress up. It’s one of my favorite pastimes aside from reading and traveling. A few weeks back,  my daughter Amaya and I went on a Sunday, Funday Target Run. My daughter is hands-down my fave shopping partner. We always have a blast when we hang out. She’s blissfully aware of the fact that Target is the jump-off for cutesy finds.

While we were there, she had an absolute blast shopping the Love Art, Ice Cream Museum Collection. They have really fun, whimsical pieces that are perfect for her.

I always rush over to the ladies section to browse the latest Who What Wear additions. It wasn’t long before this darling pinstriped shorts-suit, found me.  I was browsing through all the summer goodies and BOOM! Talk-a-bout-ah Love Connection, it was a heart-stopping moment when my eyes connected with this matchy-matchy summer wonder.

I kinda, sorta have a thing for short-sets. Remember this cutie?

The first look is great for a meeting with local brands and it can easily transition to roof-top fun! This high-low look is easy to duplicate. The formula is simple. Since I was hanging out, I opted for a slinky bandeau top. Wearing it under a blazer gives this look a polished feel. I opted to wear my floral Loubs, and they paired perfectly with the black and white pinstripes. The brooch added a classic touch of sophistication. I personally prefer a polished, fun, sophisticated style so you won’t see me wearing anything too fussy or over the top. I’m always in search of balance and that extends into my wardrobe as well.

The Second look is casual chic, this is my go-to day-time look, especially for those “Brunch with Bae”, days when I want to look fabulous but be comfortable enough to scroll through the city and hit up the Farmer’s Market. This look is all about not sacrificing style for comfort! Adding a pop of red effortlessly elevated this look to the next level. Also, sleek sneakers are a great addition to your wardrobe as they become very handy when your feet need a rest day. Layering a few necklaces in varying lengths added a lil extra sauce to this style mash-up.

Which look do you like most? I may be a little bias but it’s a tie for me! 😉
